Meet Atticus Catticus!

Atticus the Cornish Rex | www.thesmallworld.com.auWhat do you do when you have a nice, balanced, perfectly happy house containing two lovely mature 13 year old felines enjoying their retirement in 5 star luxury?  Well, if you are like us then you very wisely introduce someone like this to the household….

Atticus at about 4 weeks.

I’m pretty sure many of you will be reading this thinking “yeah, that’s not going to go so well”. And you are right!  But in fairness to us at the age of 13 both Archie and Soho had actually had quite a bit of previous exposure to other kittens and cats and it had all gone swimmingly.  But even these seasoned friendly felines probably weren’t ready for the ever-so-slightly crazy-eyed show-off we were about to adopt (unbeknownst to us at the time)!

Atticus was the smallest cat in his litter of 5 and in my experience to date (albeit limited to 3 “smallest” cats) I’ve observed that this seems to lead to some personality “issues”.  He is also a Cornish Rex (ie. nuts). Our seniors had coped well in the past with kitten play and general silliness but Atticus brought a whole new level of annoyance and pretty soon we felt that our seniors were suffering too much stress as a result. So what did we do?  Well we live in a big house and run a music studio in part of it – so Atticus became our Studio Cat!

He’s a BEAUTIFUL boy – full of life to a fault, energetic, demanding but also incredible sweet (when it suits him).  He loves to be the centre of attention, loves to show off in his leopard print coat and to be carried around, and always manages to be front and centre in the studio. He spends most days “at work” with my husband Dean, but pretty early on in this new household arrangement it became clear that humans alone wouldn’t meet his needs.  So what do you do when you have two very settled, mature, happy seniors and an active attention-seeking kitten?  Obviously you get another kitten, right?  Sam came into our lives about 3 months after Atticus and you’ll get to meet him soon!Atticus the Cornish Rex | www.thesmallworld.com.au
